NDAA 2012, or who stole my ideals?
« on: November 23, 2012, 01:43:55 PM »
So I did some reading today on NDAA 2012, and that unadorned, complete sack of donkey waste product got me to thinking a few things.

Dear Tea Party -

REALLY?  REALLY?  You guys had this on a silver platter.  $700 billion in bloat budget.  Endless language that labels small government activists, law abiding firearms owners and MILITARY VETERANS as terrorists.  And not a single bloody peep about it in the 2012 election?  Nothing to said about a bill, which if the facts where known about it, could have single-handedly reverse this election.  And what happened to your House majority which could have smothered this abortion in the crib before it even raised its ugly, sneering head?

But enough of that.  Politicians are liars and scoundrels.  Those pretending to appeal to conservative beliefs are as much liars as those pretending to appeal to other beliefs.  Tea Party, stop being stupid and learn how to focus on what counts.  Fiscal responsibility and smaller government, not intrusion into the beliefs and romances of Americans.

Now, here comes my huge, red-eyed, gamma-explosion spawned, frothing at the mouth part.

See, I was born in 1970.  Growing up at under 10 years old, I sort of considered myself a liberal, just going on programming from the decades of the 60's and 70's.  See, I had been under the impression of liberal ideals as the following:

Question authority.
Government can't push people around.
Differences in skin color, political or religious beliefs are the hangups of the tiny-minded and compassionless.

Now, what do I see from a Democratic Party which claims to be a bastion of "liberal ideals."

Democrats - look at NDAA 2012, then look at those ideals.

How does granting government unquestionable authority in any bloody way purporting to allow human beings to think for themselves?  How is so-called law enforcement without checks and balances, violating, nay, RAPING our unimpeachable freedom from illegal search and seizure NOT government pushing people around and denying them their voice in speaking out against excesses of power and corruption?  How is labelling military veterans, people who believe in self government and less spending, people who have obeyed the law in acquiring their firearms, respecting differences in faith or philosophy?

I grew up thinking that I was a liberal, and I'm sure more than a couple other people here might have had thoughts that "liberal" meant being for liberty.

After all, hippies didn't seem to be fighting for or enforcing MORE laws, or falling in goosestep behind a government sending unwilling conscripts to be cannon fodder in Vietnam. (Just imagine how the volunteer army of 2000 would have taken and handily adapted to the Viet Cong and the NVA even more quickly.  The Tet Offensive would have been crushed before it even got off the ground, rather than being the VC's last raspy breath.)  Those hippies would, in my opinion, have found censorship like SOPA and NDAA 2012 to be, in their words, "a bummer, man."  A pacifist like Arlo Guthrie would have gone all Who on the closest congressman endorsing such naked, unbridled tyrrany!

Who among those getting shot and murdered by the pawns of the Southern Democratic Party (and their bosses, the Ku Klux Klan), trying to get an equal voice for all citizens, not just those who agree with the almighty government, would look at military veterans and law abiding citizens as terrorist groups?  The same laws used to discriminate against minorities voting are now being turned around and focused on people whose only crime was "we don't want to get our government further into debt" or "I learned how to fight from the United States military."

The FBI who cracked down on the Klan for engaging in intimidation of black voters... now considers whole groups of voters as being just as bad as the Klan, despite the fact that militant-looking goons of the Black Panthers are now standing in the place of white hooded bigots at southern polling places.

What.  In.  The.  Name.  Of.  Satan's.  Cancerous.  Prostate.  Happened?

The Evil One mentioned that there just isn't a place for a socially liberal, fiscally conservative politician in this country.

Quote from: The Evil One
Honestly... How many pro choice, pro gay marriage, etc politicians are in office that believe in a lockdown on the budgetary purse strings?
I am being that it is Damn few.
Leave people mostly to their own devices... And so boring money.
It's not THAT hard of a concept to grasp.

(ps: if those are the thoughts of "the evil one" then I'm down with the devil.  Just sayin'.)

But, hey.  If you say anything against the ideas of the Democratic Party, you're evil.  You're anti-science.  You're against social equality.  You're FOR hate crimes.

REALLY?  REALLY?  REE-FLUFFING-EALLY?

The Democrats, as far as I am concerned, are heretofore FORBIDDEN to take up the insulting mien of "liberalism."

Real liberals?  They don't have armored thugs with painful chemical sprays and heavy skull-cracking clubs attack unarmed protestors.

Real liberals?  They applaud when people fight City Hall and their overreach of authority and abuse of power.

Real liberals?  They don't immediately point to the opposition party and label them as terrorists.

Kim Du Toit was right.  They are THE EVIL PARTY.  Nothing more than authoritarian jerks.

Too bad those supporting civil liberty and personal freedom are hung down with what he called "the Stupid Party."

Doug...don't get me started.
I'm afraid I'd have to duct tape my entire head and place it in a vice to keep it from exploding.
But please...tell us how you really feel?

Unfortunately people in both parties are happy to ignore evil as long as "their" guy is doing it.

It is amazing what people care about when it's gone.
Like Liberty.
Liberty is more than freedom.
It's the ability to be free from forced slavery/servitude.
It's the ability to enjoy the fruits of your labor without being robbed.
It's the ability to live without someone or (In the case of government) some thing from taking your life away.
It's the ability to make your choices and decisions and living with the results without interference.
In other, more poignant words...
"The ability to exercise your liberty and freedom to swing your fist ends at the point where someone's nose begins." To paraphrase the point.

I have a deep feeling the age of true liberty is coming to a close.

I am also outraged to say the least. This is one of those where I have learned to keep my damn fool mouth shut because, it has a history of getting my in trouble. I have been doing a LOT of thinking about this and the direction the country is going and, I don't like what I am seeing. :banghead
