McMillan bumps heads with BofA?

McMillan Fiberglass Stocks, McMillan Firearms Manufacturing, McMillan Group International have been collectively banking with Bank of America for 12 years. Today Mr. Ray Fox, Senior Vice President, Market Manager, Business Banking, Global Commercial Banking came to my office. He scheduled the meeting as an “account analysis” meeting in order to evaluate the two lines of credit we have with them. He spent 5 minutes talking about how McMillan has changed in the last 5 years and have become more of a firearms manufacturer than a supplier of accessories.

At this point I interrupted him and asked “Can I possible save you some time so that you don’t waste your breath? What you are going to tell me is that because we are in the firearms manufacturing business you no longer what my business.”

“That is correct” he says.

I replied “That is okay, we will move our accounts as soon as possible. We can find a 2nd Amendment friendly bank that will be glad to have our business. You won’t mind if I tell the NRA, SCI and everyone one I know that BofA is not firearms industry friendly?”

“You have to do what you must” he said.

“So you are telling me this is a politically motivated decision, is that right?”

Mr Fox confirmed that it was. At which point I told him that the meeting was over and there was nothing let for him to say.

I think it is import for all Americans who believe in and support our 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms should know when a business does not support these rights. What you do with that knowledge is up to you. When I don’t agree with a business’ political position I can not in good conscience support them. We will soon no longer be accepting Bank of America credit cards as payment for our products.

Bank Of America Clarifies Position
Posted on May 28, 2010

Over the past few months, NRA-ILA received information from a few members detailing some problems that firearm-related businesses were having with Bank of America (BoA).

It appeared that BoA had adopted a policy of denying banking services to businesses associated with firearms.  ILA staff contacted BoA corporate leadership and asked them to provide specific information regarding their policies.

In a conversation with Douglas K. Bland, a BoA Senior Vice President, NRA-ILA was assured that there was no such anti-gun policy.

Mr. Bland provided NRA-ILA with a written statement of their policy, which states "Bank of America does not have a corporate-wide policy to deny banking services solely on the applicant's involvement in the firearms industry."

NRA-ILA is pleased with this statement, but will continue to monitor business activities to ensure that gun owners and gun related business receive fair treatment.  If you have had issues with Bank of America, please contact NRA-ILA so additional follow-up can be done.  If needed, Mr. Bland has indicated his desire to assist with claims of unfair denial of services for firearms related reasons.

Did they change their position in the past two years?   You just about never hear of banks firing their corporate customers.  :-\

I wouldn't expect that Kelly McMillan would have a reason to lie.

There are many other reasons not to do business with Bank of America besides this.    They are probably one of the most evil and crooked companies on the planet.

I dropped BofA in October, but not for this issue.  After reading the first article, I'm glad I did.  They've really gone to s___ of late.

I am amazed that a bank would do that.

    I'm not.

BoA is run by dunderheads who don't understand what banking is supposed to be about. Now, if you or I were running a bank we'd strive for customer service and customer satisfaction because that's what gets and keeps customers who put their money in your bank. This is exactly opposite of what BoA does.

We finally dropped them earlier this year.  It was the culmination of a long series of disappointments and outright f***ups perpetrated on us over the last few years.  Reading this only confirms the fact that our decision was the right one.  BofA has got to be one of the most inept corporate entities of all time.  Without the government giving them multi-billion dollar enemas from time to time they would have been gone long ago.  >:(

So, I'm guessing they won't be doing business with any security or armored car company that carries firearms, either?

Zions Bank in Utah did the same thing to ProArms in SLC.  It forced the closure and liquidation of ProArms assets.

Had a mortgage with BoA. Due to customer service  :facepalm, and loan service  :facepalm I took a higher rate and moved everything out of BoA. Glad I did. Got a better rate a couple years later. Still not with BoA. Glad I moved when I did.

Hell if I know where it went, but Shep Smith and Wolf Blitzer were talking of it on the telly.

Guys, I'm embarassed. I can't find any link to this on CNN nor Fox. It was first mentioned on Kelly's Court, then again on Studio B as well as The Situation Room w/ Wolf Blitzer over on CNN.....now I can't find Jack s___  for video on either FNC nor CNN....go figure.

Don't sweat it.  I don't think anyone thought you were lying.  We just wanted to see it too.

I've seen others around the net saying they saw it on both CNN and Fox, so it has to be out there someplace.

That makes it look like BoA doesn't want to do business in the gun industry...unless the account is big enough. McMillan obviously didn't make the cut.
