I would like to talk to his speech writer...
« on: November 08, 2016, 02:54:42 pm »
I got a chance to watch Donald Trump's 'closing argument' commercial today.  Before I post that, I want to post a speech from a gentleman from the past.

Watch it, and pay attention to the key words and concepts.  You can ignore references exclusive to 'jews,' which naturally make up a significant portion.

Then watch this.

Yep.  I would like to sit down with Big T's speech writer.

Before anyone says anything, I do not support Hitler or his ideals, and I am not anti-jew.  Some may notice that my sig line is partially adapted from the end of the one video.  I stand by that.  I make no apology, nor excuse it.  In some areas, he had the right idea.  In many more, he was evil incarnate.  I will be the first to say that the evil far outweighed the good.

Further, I am still voting for Trump today.  What Trump has in common with the gentleman from history, is an 'Us first' mentality.  America first.  That is something I can get behind, no matter who is saying it.

Demagoguery looks the same rather you speak German, English or Russian. It is always easy to look outside yourself and blame 'the other' for your failings.

It takes strength and integrity to closely exam yourself and work diligently on your own flaws. If you open the door to the unknown you may allow in an enemy, OR you may allow in your closest ally.

It is the most cruel of fates slowly dying behind a wall you built yourself.

The choices the majorities chose. :-\

As much as I do like Trump and what he stands for, I think it is time we introduce a new method of selecting presidential nominees.  Direct primaries are going to continue to produce such extremes going forward.  It is only going to get worse on that front.

If you think Trump stands for anything except making Trump rich and powerful you are deluded in the extreme.

I hope at least some positives come forward along the third party lines this election cycle. Gary Johnson seems to be pulling decent numbers for a third party candidate. I voted for him simply to help him gain some percentage points, and maybe it helps get the Lib party some notice.

My greatest hope is that Trump wins, and the Repubs and Dems both hate him. He gets nothing accomplished, and it is just grid lock for his 4 years. A president that doesn't do a damn thing is a pretty good president IMO.

You are right, I should have chosen different words.  As much as I like what Trump speaks for.  I like what he says.

Suggesting someone is deluded is always an effective way of causing them to self reflect and see your point of view.

As to the rest, I am no fan of libertarians.  Whether big L or small.

I realize that it is commonplace here... but had that difference of opinion taken place in... well just about anywhere else online it would not have gone very well at all.  :clap

    Thank You Both.

All I see in both video's is Nationalism. It really depends upon what side of the argument you're on if that is a bad thing or not. Just about every country's leader will speak of pride in one's country or Nationalism. Instead of using Hitler, we could just as easily have picked a motivational speech from an ally Nation or even a past president  :shrug.

You are looking to broadly.  You are thinking in general concepts.  I mean for you to look at the very wording and key phrases - the 'talking points' of the speeches.  They are eerily similar.

Maybe I need to watch them again, but:

    * There are those who oppose us/ doubt us.

    * We will prove them wrong, we will make our country great/strong again.

    * We have a common enemy who is a threat to our very way of life. We have a "bad guy" to unite against.

I feel it is pretty broad, because it has to be. If you want to get the people going that is how you have to word your speeches. Talk about how you love America, Grandma, and apple pie- That's a sure winner with a large crowd. No one wants to hear the specific nuances of your 9 point tax plan.

I'm not trying to be difficult here, honestly.

If orange comb over jesus starts talking about "rounding up" any population of people, then I'll be worried, but until then I think he just wants to "make America Great again".... I hope :hide . You have to admit it though, if Trump did go all Hitler/world domination/ super villain- Trump tower would be a fantastic evil lair  :neener.

You mean like the targets of his very first campaign controversy?  :scrutiny

I suppose it does depend upon if he intends to keep a good number of his campaign promises.  If no, cool.  If he does...  Hopefully the GOP majorities will have the balls to push back.

Look, he's not Hitler.  I voted for him, and I am glad that I did.  This thread is focused on the striking similarities between the two speeches.

Hell his speeches aren't even close to the anti-Brexit speech I heard in London.  That speaker had the cadence, style and even arm movements of Hitler.

Did you hear Trump's acceptence speech last night?

Give him a chance before you condemn our next President.

No, I saw it this afternoon.  It was very much the speech I expect from a president.  If he behaves as he spoke last night, we will have no problems.

I felt bad for his son, standing there next to him.  He was tired, but was standing there more calmly than I would have at 10.  He was fidgeting, but I figure that is a side effect of all of the caffeine they must have pumped into him, to allow him to even be awake at that hour.

In politics they all same about the same things at one time or another.  Political rhetoric is finite in quantity.  You could probably find a quote from Ronald Reagan that lined up with Hitler, Mussolini, Mao, <insert evil bastard here>.

It doesn't mean anything one way or another.

It could be coincidence.  I just know that (being familiar with the content of the AH speech) I heard the Trump rhetoric, and had a pipecleaner tail moment.

It is fashionable in some circles to equate everything not liked to Hitler.  However, that is often just a triumph of saying negative things over accurate things.  So, regarding the above speech, I'll remind you all that the essence of fascism is not nationalism but statism.  A national identity and support within the nation for that identity is not dangerous by itself.  It is statism -- the concentration of power within the state -- that turns nationalism toxic.
CaliforniaOf course I carry a gun!  It gives me a chance against the sinners and protection from the righteous.
